I often work with managers in large organisations who tell me that they feel frustrated because changes they want to make won't have enough impact. Sometimes that's because the people around them are resisting change, or perhaps others are behaving in ways which don't fit with how they want to manage. The tendancy then of course is to continue working in the way they always have because it doesn't seem worth making the effort to change unless others do too. Perhaps if we just started, took one step, accept responsibility for our own behaviour, we could start to make an impact and others may follow? Even if they don't at least we would be true to ourselves and that in turn would bring us greater contentment.
It is worth remembering something Dame Anita Roddick once said "If you think you're too small to make any impact, try going to bed with a mosquito in the room".

Excellent piece, lots to ponder and act upon.

Thanks so much for that HUGE dose of food for thought. I hope you don't mind but I copied and pasted Dame Roddick's quote to my Facebook page. I would like to point out we can make small changes in our homes to reduce our carbon footprints. Small things like changing furnace and humidifier filters multiplied by hundreds of households can really add up. Thanks for the platform for me to put my good two cents worth up for the world to think about.
