I've been doing a lot of change management recently so thought I'd share an interesting model which I use when planning any approach to a change initiative. It's called the AWAKEN Model and reminds us of the stages individuals need to go through to accept and implement successful change. I'm afraid I can't recall where or when I first came across it but it's been in my toolkit for several years and I like it because it focuses attention on the stages we need to go through as individuals going through change in order for the organisational change to be successful.

AWAKEN Model:

A - Awareness - All stakeholders are aware of the need to change and why it is necessary
W - WIIFM - People know what the benefits are of making the change; key stakeholders know what's in it for them
A - Aim - Everyone understands the aim of the change and what it will look like for us
K - Know - We know the steps we need to take to get where we want to be
E - Enabled - We have the right skills and attitudes to enable us to achieve the change
N - Natural - The change is reinforced and has become natural; its now the way we do things round here

Let me know if you give AWAKEN a try and whether it helped you implement change in your organisation..
