I recently came across Gerard Burke's (Cranfield University, School of Management) 6 Behaviours of Winners in a downturn and thought I would share them here. The 6 identified behaviours ARE:

1. Be in Control
2. Be Confident
3. Be Distinctive
4. Be Stong
5. Be Wise
6. Be Ready

I don't suppose any of these will come as a surprise?

For me the key is in the simplicity of the message.

When times are as tough as they are at the moment, remembering this simple but strong framework could be the difference between success and failure. Of course it's no good just remembering them though, we need to make sure we're living and breathing the behaviours consistently in all that we do with our staff, our customers, our potential customers and most importantly of all, with ourselves!
